Another Sunday science lecture- this time about the AASTO project that's right outside of ARO. It's a telescope that will be looking for brightness changes of certain stars. Why? Because this is one way you can detect new planets. If the star gets a little dimmer regularly, it's probably because a large planet in orbit around it is blocking some of the light. Pretty cool stuff and the south pole is one of the only places on earth you can do things like that on the ground.
