So after a long evening of wine tasting, these two took it upon themselves to cook breakfast for the station- breakfast burritos, made to order!  These two are very colorful characters- Chad in front is from Texas (which should explain the hat) and Oswaldo behind him is from Puerto Rico and have been to Antarctica several times, but this is the first time they've wintered here at the Pole.  Oswaldo hadn't slept all night though and was fading pretty fast (not before I got my burritos though!) and in between shoving Coronas at everyone (not many in the station made it up this early- so they had enough beer to go around...) and cursing them in Spanish, he told everyone how he was ready to pass out.  A stupendous effort though!  Plus it was the first time in a while that I got to have fresh pico de gallo salsa with hydroponic cilantro.  I'm from San Diego and I've almost forgotten how much I miss things like that!  Also on this day was a day off for everyone.  Normally the station is on a six day a week schedule, but now that we're on the winter schedule, every first Saturday of the month is off- so you can also guess why not many people made it for breakfast burritos from that!  But everyone here works hard every day here and you can really appreciate having an extra day off when it comes like that.
