Late afternoon in the Dobson room.  Right now, the sun is getting pretty low and it's due to dip below the horizon for the first time in about 17 days.  But it could vary slightly and actually there's a little betting pool as to when exactly the sun will set (don't tell NSF though!).  I haven't put my guess in yet- they want it up to the minute, so I think I had better think about it carefully, after all, since I am an atmospheric tech, I should know how things like atmospheric aberrations could affect your perceived view of sunset, right?  Well, not really- actually, I haven't a clue, but I'll think of something to put in.  But it should be good- I've been told that there is a green flash associated with it here and since the sun sets so slowly, it can last for minutes at a time.  Considering that I've lived much of my life next to an ocean and never saw it before, I'm definitely looking forward to maybe seeing that when the time comes!
