As the sun sets, you can see the darkness approaching in the opposite direction creating some pretty purples and blues along the horizon. I think that when we were outside taking this picture, we realized that there are a lot of people here who never have to go outside like we do- most of the construction workers work indoors all day and never have to walk out even this far from the station. Strange to think that there are many people who come to the South Pole and might never actually go outside to see it.
