Lately, we've been launching our ozone sondes with the met department sondes at the same time- we use a much larger balloon to pull up our payload so we can usually get higher than they can, but the met department's sondes can calculate wind direction via GPS, something that we don't normally do, although the data is a nice thing to have when you can get it. But this is the cool thing about the met department sondes- they use punch tape to program the calibration coefficients. Punch tape! So anyway, this is Kris pulling the tape through the pretty ancient receiver to get his sonde ready for launch and then he'll tie his instrument package to ours.
