VLF in the Dark Sector

This is one of the further places Dana goes around station.  On calm days, the walk isn't too bad, but on windy ones things can be pretty tough.  Basically, it's a heated room with a bank of batteries, inverters and amplifiers that transmits regularly throughout the day and the transmissions are picked up elsewhere as part of the experiment.

The amp rack.

    Some power inverters.

Various diagrams left by the research group.

    Some spare amps.

            A few more diagrams.

Now this is interesting- this is part of a joke they played on someone out here.  Because this system is designed to emit radio waves, they told someone who visited that they needed to make tinfoil hats to protect their brains- and these are some the hats from last summer!

And finally some shots of the outside of VL:F- not much to see from here.
