Flat Stanley at the South Pole!
Introduction
I was contacted few months ago about the "Flat Stanley Project". I hadn't heard of it before, but I decided to give it a try because it looked like fun. Who is Flat Stanley? He's a character in a series of children's books. Because he's flat, he can be mailed just about anywhere and his stories are about his adventures. You can find out more about his here: www.flatstanleyproject.net
Unfortunately though, I have not read any of his books- the South Pole library is somewhat lacking in the kid's books, so maybe one of you will have to fill me in on what it's really about!
So what's going on here? Well, Flat Stanley is here at South Pole Station for a visit. Actually, this is a clone of Flat Stanley because I think because he was mailed a little late in the season, he got stuck in Christchurch, New Zealand where all of our mail goes through- so while he's enjoying life over there, we had to go through alternative means of getting him here. And while he's here, I'm putting him to work around the Atmospheric Research Observatory, where I work because this ain't no resort....he's gotta earn his keep!
The following is his arrival, the daily duties that we do here at the station, and little bit around the outside and in the new station- there's a lot going on here, even in the winter and I put this together to share a bit of that. There is the possibility of future updates as well, just let me know where you'd like him to go!
