A Couple Brief Trips Out to Dark Sector

As you might have already guessed, astronomy is big here at South Pole. Big research grants, big projects, and big data requirements. Over at ARO, we put out a piddling 20 MB of data every day, while Dark Sector puts out several GBs along with everything that's stored on site on various media- tapes, DVDs, etc. So what do they do out there? Here's a few sets of pictures of some of my brief trips out to this side of South Pole- just follow the links below to check out what some of the other beakers are doing out here.
There are other things in this area that I haven't gotten out to this year (if you can believe that) and there's new projects that will be starting up such as ICE-CUBE and a new 10 meter telescope at DSL. Maybe I'll catch some of that next winter?
